I am Becoming

I am Becoming

becoming

I’m growing into the kind of woman that I want my daughter to be

I’m being the daughter that I’d like to have as a mother

I’m learning to be the kind of wife my father married,

But beyond all of this, every single step is a path to my becoming.

This story on my tongue

The ideas in my head

The thoughts in my mind

The vision in my sight

The passion that drives me to keep the late night,

They all need to be refined for me to be defined.

I need it all, all the tools that I can get for me to be fine-tuned into God’s purpose for my life.

I do not want to confuse what it is for what it seems.

Life has been known to be pretty indecisive…

Life tried to define me,

And put me in a system where survival is based so much on memory and very little on reasoning.

Thank God I wasn’t deceived, I can see that there’s more to me.

I could see the bigger picture, but I still had ability to zoom in.

To zoom in on;

This story on my tongue

The ideas in my head

The thought in my mind

The vision in my sight

The passion that drives me to keep the late night,

They all need to be refined for me to be accurately defined.

So, I began to learn how to sow,

Measuring the length of where I am to where I am going.

Knowing that this would yield a harvest

I began to tailor my all of me to fit into God’s purpose for my life.

And since its a journey, every single step is a path to my becoming.
