I don’t know if this happens to everyone but I have noticed that there is this special feeling that comes with making a new friend. You want to always call them, chat and visit. In fact you just always want to be around them. The same thing applies to when you first enter a relationship, the love is on the highest level with emotions raging wild, you always have a lot of things to talk about, you don’t want to offend each other, you always want to be the best for the other person because you are in a love relationship.

Then you get married and all the feelings and emotions seemingly ‘disappear’ that does not mean you leave such marraige. You have to stay and make things interesting again. The truth is that when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you entered into a love relationship with Him and for most believers  immediately after salvation, our love for Christ was deep, we always wanted to be in the presence of God, we could spend hours worshiping and praising God. We were just excited about being christians.

The relationship was a new experience and that sometimes came with goose pimples and tears running down your face. That feeling made you know you are in God’s presence but as you grow in Christ, you will learn that God’s presence is not hinged on our feelings and emotions. There will be days when you will enter into your secret place to talk to your Father and you won’t feel anything in fact the only feeling you will feel is not to do it but, because we know that it is not about the way we feel we still go ahead and worship. Our spiritual sense becomes more developed beyond our physical senses or situations around us and we enter into the presence of the father with or without the feelings. There will come a time or the time might be here already when you will not feel like praying, worshiping or studying the word but because you have gotten to a point in that love relationship with the Father where you are not ruled by the physical senses you do it anyway.

The truth of the matter is that we must never allow our love relationship with the Lord to be ruled by feelings and emotions. God is a constant we are the variables and our walk with him cannot be built on our variability. What separates matured Christians from babes is that our love for the Father is based on decisions and not feelings, a decision to always fellowship with him even when everything around us is screaming for us not to.So next time you don’t feel like praying, pray anyways, next time you don’t feel like studying the word please do all you can to study anyways, the next time you raise your hands to worship and your eyes are dry never for once doubt that your worship is not touching the heart of your father. Don’t forget to keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is our ever present help in time of help he will strengthen you.

I  am a final year medical student.I love the Lord and i believe that Jesus Christ is the central theme of Christianity.

I subscribed to the Beautified blog and took my time to read through the different segments, it wasn’t long before I started “hmmm-ing” and nodding to the rhema revealed in the topics shared.
The topic that really struck a cord in my being was the one Funto shared on “Who Are You?”
I could relate in so many ways.

This time last year, my life was taking a downward spiral course, it seemed like everything was going under. All the things I had that seemed to give me a sense of identity and worth were falling apart one by one.

I was working in a bank, I had a fat salary, I had a car, I was engaged and soon to be married; life was grand.

All of a sudden, things changed.

There was an issue with someone in another branch (story for another day, lol) but it affected me, so I was relieved of my job.
The engagement fell apart few months to the agreed wedding date. I also lost some money and my car. It was as though my life could not get any worse.

Little did I know that these were God’s way of saving me from disaster.

Before that period, I wasn’t walking closely with God, I had let go of His hand, telling Him I could take care of myself. I had made decisions and compromises at the expense of my walk with God. I was in a relationship that i had no business being in as a Christian, wallowing in self-deceit under the guise of “nobody is perfect, you can always work it out “. Exerting much energy without getting any positive result, swimming against a tide that clearly wanted to go in another direction.

It wasn’t until I realised how far from God I had wandered and I retraced my steps back to Him that He saved me and opened my eyes to all the signs He showed me in dreams and reality but I refused to see or listen.

I was carried away with a deceptive container with the wrong content and had depended on the things i had to define me. I wasn’t a Banker anymore, I wasn’t someone’s fiancee. I wasn’t a car owner. I didn’t have money. All my security fell through. Then I asked myself, “so now,  who am I?”

I thank God for His love and grace, that pulled me back, restored me and opened my eyes to who I am.

Revelations 5:10 And hast made us unto God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

I am made by Divine design. I have been made with gifts and traits and a genetic combination that no one else has. No one in all ages of the world has ever been me. And no one will.

God created me in His own image and gave me the ability to reign on earth. It doesn’t matter the circumstances surrounding you at any given time, always see yourself as God sees you.
Celebrate the fact that God had made each tiny part of you unique, special, one-of-a-kind.
Discover the wonder of a woman God created you to be. Enjoy the little things that make you special. What a rare and precious treasure you are to God. You can give the world some things that no one else can in the same way.

The perception of who I am is crucial to my walk with God. As a royal priesthood, I am an embodiment of Beauty, Power and Royalty. I am an epitome of God’s glory. I am created in the very image and likeness of God. All things created, visible and invisible are under my feet.

The nature of royalty as given to me by God must reflect in my appearance and discussion. Thank God for the awesome creative work He has done as He made me who I am!

Meditate:1 Peter 2:9-10

The truth is, no matter how far those pretty feet have wandered, the Father is always ready with open arms to take you back. It’s not too late Princess, return and be restored.

Whoop! It’s day 30 of our 31 days of confessions already! We are super excited. If you have been following the confessions we will want to know what you think.

It’s time for our confessions

Today I decree that men of stature shall come over to me and they shall be mine; they shall follow me, they shall come over in chains and bow down to me. They shall confess to me: God is indeed with me, and there is no other God.The Lord shall bear me up even in old age;the Lord will make me, and carry me; He shall bear and save me.God’s plan for my life shall take place, and His will concerning me shall be fulfilled. The Lord teaches me to profit and leads me in the way I should go. My peace shall be like a river, and my righteousness like the waves of the sea.My descendants shall be as countless as the sand, and the offspring of my body shall be like grains; the names of my offspring shall not be cut off or eliminated from the presence of God.

Even when I thirst in the midst of the deserts; God shall make water flow for me from the rock. God will answer me in a time of favor, and He shall help me in the day of salvation. The Lord shall keep me and He shall appoint me to be a covenant for the people, to restore my lineage (generation), to make them possess the desolate inheritances.I shall not hunger or thirst, the scorching heat or sun shall not strike me. Because I am inscribed on the palms of God, I am neither forsaken nor forgotten.Kings shall be my foster fathers and their queens my nursing mothers. They shall bow down to me with their faces to the ground and lick the dust at my feet. The Lord shall make my oppressors eat their own flesh and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. The Lord shall contend with the one who contends with me, and shall save my children.I believe, I say Amen and it is settled.

Good Morning Beautified Lady.

This is our confession for today.

Today I decree that the spirit helps all my infirmities and makes intercession for me, even when I can’t put my prayers into words, God hears my heart. I am not stranded in life, God supernaturally meets my needs at all times. I decree that I abide in a peaceful habitation, in secured dwellings and undisturbed resting places. It is my season of recompense and my day of salvation. None of God’s word spoken to me shall fail and I shall not lack my mate. The Lord shall strengthen my feeble hands and makes steady my shaking knees. My eyes are not blind to opportunities and my ears are not deaf to instructions.I am the redeemed of the LORD therefore I will return and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy. Joy and gladness shall overtake me, and sorrow and sighing shall flee.

All those waiting for my downfall shall wait in vain. Every good thing including ideas that I am pregnant of, I receive strength to deliver them according to God’s plan. Everything that is in my life that stands to mock the living God I serve are terminated. God’s love brings me out of every pit. God reverses for good every negative pronouncement over my destiny. The Lord prepares a way for me in the wilderness; makes a straight highway for me in the desert.Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be leveled; the uneven ground will become smooth for me and the rough places shall be made plain. The glory of the LORD shall appear upon me, and all humanity together will see it, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. I may not see wind or rain but the valley shall be filled.

All who are enraged against me shall be ashamed and disgraced; those who contend with me shall become as nothing and shall perish.I will look for those who contend with me, but I will not find them. Those who war against me shall become absolutely nothing.Yahweh, has called me for a righteous purpose, and He shall hold me by the hand. God shall keep me and appoint me to be a covenant for my generation and a light to nations.I believe, I say Amen and it is settled.

Good news! My homegirl is pregnant! Though I’m yet to see them- the baby bump and her changing body- her husband mentioned over the phone that she’s adding up pretty fast. Well, that is expected when you are expecting. I recall her complaining to me in the first trimester about the nausea, fatigue and of course, the need to change her wardrobe. It’s so amazing how fast her life has changed since she got married. It’s even more amazing how the arrival of the baby will change everything. And though I’ve never gone through what she’s going through, her experience reminds me of a familiar route we all often travel more than once in our lifetime.

Other things being equal, we all get pregnant at one point or the other in the course of our fellowship with God. Routine intercourse with the Holy Spirit eventually results in divine conceptions since our God is not sterile. In those intimate moments of intimacy, God releases His seed into us as visions, dreams, and ideas for us to nurture and carry to term in our wombs and birth in health to impact our world.Interestingly, you just might be pregnant and not know it yet until the fetus announces itself with some symptoms.

But, what is required of you when you are carrying and expecting the manifestation of such seed?

EatStudyfor Two

Basically, your reading habit and pattern has to change to make provision for the dietary needs of the fetus growing inside you. Not only will you need to increase your portions, you will need to emphasize and deemphasize your intake of certain nutrients, and improve the overall quality of your daily intake to cater for the specific needs of that delicate deposit. You must begin to consciously feed that baby with the quality knowledge of God’s word and healthy and relevant materials and supplements. During this crucial period, you cannot wait to “feel” like studying before you study. You study with a sense of responsibility because the healthy formation and development of your baby and your overall health before, during and after delivery depends on it. You must awaken and stimulate your taste buds for knowledge to grow that vision and get rid of junks and unhealthy information. The health of your baby must influence your choice of what to read, who to listen to, what to feed your mind with. If it’s not going to build the vision/dream/idea and prepare you for delivery, don’t indulge.

Wardrobe  Association Adjustment

As your mind, intellect, vision, capacity etc. grows bigger in preparation for the big delivery; some relationships just won’t fit anymore. Your favorite associates that aren’t made of stretch material will become too uncomfortable to be around since they can’t keep up with the growth happening to you in you. It is wisdom to adjust your wardrobe lest you choke while forcing them on.

However, be wise to not discard such relationships. Simply keep them elsewhere or find a better use for them while you go for who works for the season you are in. Surround yourself with people who are ready to accommodate your new size and stretch with you since you are bound to get bigger.

Routine Doctor’s Mentor’s Visit

Even if this is your third vision/idea/project, you still need to make a periodic stop at your mentor’s place. It is important that, in such delicate a season, you surround yourself with and make yourself accountable to wise counsel. These trusted guides will help verify the state of health of baby through frequent examination. With this you will prevent and quickly address threats to the baby or you.

Prepare for Arrival

Your preparation should start from the first day you become aware! This baby will change everything and so you must prepare yourself spiritually, emotionally, psychologically, financially and in all ways for its arrival. You’ve got to start saving resources, cleaning up your life, reordering your priorities, establishing and strengthening relevant relationships, building a structure before that baby gets here.

Remember that God comes to us when we are due to conceive, so every baby He gives must be kept and delivered. I’m so excited for my homegirl and I cannot wait to meet our baby! To all certified mums, powerfully pregnant mums, and expectant mums in waiting, physical or spiritual, your seed is a blessing.

Good Morning Beautified Lady

It’s Day 22 of our 31 days of confessions and we are declaring the blessings of God all over!

Today I decree over my life that men shall stand in awe of my testimonies. My towns and fields are blessed. My children and my crops are blessed. The offspring of my herds and flocks are blessed. I experience God’s blessings inside the city and His blessings in the country. My fruit baskets and bread boards are blessed. Wherever I go and whatever I do is blessed. The Lord shall conquer my enemies when they attack. They will attack from one direction, but they shall scatter from me in seven ways. The Lord’s blessing is guaranteed on whatsoever I do and the Lord shall fill my storehouses with grains. The Lord God shall bless and increase me greatly on every side.

The appointed time is now, therefore the Lord shall send rain upon me from his rich treasury in the heavens and the Lord shall bless all the work I do. I shall lend to many nations, but I shall never need to borrow from them. I am the head and not the tail, and I shall always be on top and never at the bottom. The Lord fills my mouth with good things. The Lord shall feed me with the finest of the wheat and satisfies me with wild honey from the rock. Every season of my life is clothed with the blessings of God and I continue to grow stronger. The Lord gives me grace and glory and does not withhold any good thing from me.

The Lord grants me purity of heart therefore I honour Him. My best days are ahead of me. The Lord gives me beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted shall be pulled up by the roots.Surely there is no enchantment against me, neither is there any divination against my household.I believe, I say Amen and it is settled.

Ask Funto: Is it Ok to date/marry a guy who’s younger than I am?

Ask Funto: Is it Ok to date/marry a guy who’s younger than I am?

So I got this question from one of my Instagram followers this week and decided it would be a good question to talk about here as there might be a few others who find themselves in the same situation.

I once was in a relationship with a guy I was about a year older than and we were good while we lasted; it wasn’t so much the age difference that made me break off the relationship, but somewhere at the back of my mind, I felt like I wouldn’t be able to fully submit to him as my husband as I was more mature than he was and maturity wasn’t about the age difference.

Mine wasn’t even so ‘bad’; I have a friend whose mum is five years older than her dad and the have been married for over 25 years and still growing strong. When it comes to age and relationships, personally I think age is just a number and if you don’t mind, it really doesn’t matter.

In my opinion, age is not one of the major factors that determine whether a marriage will be successful or not. Yes it plays a significant role, however in true friendship, age does not really count. Nobody emphasizes who is the oldest. Rather, the two people involved in the friendship just relate freely, not emphasizing seniority or superiority. This should be the same in the marriage where love reigns.

What determines leadership in any situation is not always age; it is the role the individual recognized as the head plays at the time that makes him the head. For instance, think of a young man who pastors a church and most of the congregation is far older than him, yet he is the head, simply because of the role he plays in the church. The same applies to a marriage where the woman is older than the man. In this kind of marriage, the man still plays the role of a husband, while the woman plays the role of a wife. That’s just the order and no one can reverse it. No matter the age difference, no culture, tradition or people will ever give the role of a husband to the woman because she is older. Similarly, the man does not become the husband because he is older; he is the husband because he is the man of the house and that automatically makes him the head. So really, age does not determine the success of any marriage; maturity, love and understanding do.

If you’re looking at marrying a man you’re older than whether by months or years, there are some major things you need to consider.

  1. Maturity

It’s clear that maturity is not a function of age. In considering marrying a man younger than you are, one major question to ask is – “does he have the maturity to understand your needs and take care of you?”  I like how puts it-  Some people might be physically mature, which is to say that they are fully physically grown, but don’t yet exhibit signs of emotional maturity — such as a willingness to accept responsibility, or maintain poise in serious situations — for a long time afterward. How does he relate with the people in his life; does he show a sense of responsibility; is he someone you can easily follow his leadership and not try to treat him like he’s your younger brother even if they might be the same age? Ask yourself this- “Will I be willing to submit even if his leadership is not as mature as I would like?”  When it comes to marriage, the man assumes the responsibility of the head. Regardless of the age difference between both of you, he deserves respect and adoration from you.

  1. Consider the ‘Pros’ and the ‘Cons’

This kind of marriage has its own share of problems and its peculiarity will inevitably open it up to several challenges. One of such is how you get along with the person’s friends, because these people will also be part of your life. Also, because of the age disparity, both of you may not have many life experiences in common and this may make it challenging t to find common ground to stand on.

  1. Is it God’s will for you?

Every couple should seek confirmation that their relationship is God’s will. An age difference is just one factor to consider. The bigger question is “Is this God’s will?”  While you both can exercise wisdom in thinking through some of the unique challenges you might face, you can also trust Him with the details. If it is His will for you to marry a man younger than you are, then you can be sure He has graced you both for it.

Finally, as with all marriages, remember that there are prices to pay, challenges to face, things to endure;therefore, critically count the cost and be sure your man is ready and willing to stay with you and remain faithful to your marital vows.

How vulnerable can you be with God?

How vulnerable can you be with God?

How many times have you felt so ashamed maybe even too ashamed of yourself, what you have done or what you are thinking to even talk to God?

Ah most times you think you have failed God too many times He wouldn’t even want to talk to you. Why will He, when you are so dirty? So what do you do? You avoid prayer time, church becomes a boring routine and life just seems so bland.

Most of the time fear is the biggest reason why we run, we are scared God will be too disappointed to even look at us so we stay away,

Other times we feel guilty. Especially when you and God have enjoyed quality time together and then … boom you sin. You feel so guilty. I remember when I would say ‘Haba Dotun, you know God too much to do something like this’ the shame I felt would just literally make me feel like burying my head in the sand.

Can you relate?

I am learning to stop this.

Running away only makes things worse. The longer you stay away the harder it may be for you to come back to Him. God loves you too much to prefer that you run from Him. If He can forgive Saul after he killed so many Christians, if He can look beyond the sins of Rahab then your case is not too hard for Him.

Maybe your case isn’t exactly like this, let me now ask this question.

Can you talk to God openly about anything I mean anything; your fears, your weirdest thoughts, your happy moments and those fantastic ideas you have?

You know God wants all of us to be able to feel vulnerable with Him.

There’s no need to put up appearances with God.  If you are not happy, tell Him, when you are scared talk to Him. You should never feel ashamed to bare yourself before Him. Some people can’t even cry when they are praying. Are you hiding your tears from God?  So who’s going to wipe them away if not Him?

Some people think they can handle it all. Others have been too hurt in the past and prefer to bottle up everything. God is not like that, He wouldn’t use what you tell Him against you.

You might be wondering what’s the need to tell God everything, isn’t he supposed to be Omniscient (The One that knows all) so why should I have to tell Him? I used to feel that way too, but then I have come to realize that talking to God about what He already knows signifies total vulnerability, reliance, trust in Him and most importantly a relationship.

When you are dating, you don’t only talk about the good things, you talk about the sad, the unpleasant and even the outright crazy.

That’s what He wants the most.

God does not just want you to run to Him in a five minutes prayer to say ‘thank you for answering my prayers.’ He wants to talk about everything.

In the end, telling God everything especially what you will ordinarily not have told anybody is for your own good. Some of us are carrying weights that we holding us back. Others prefer to write it in a diary. Your diary cannot solve the problem. Only Jesus can.

I think one of the reasons why we don’t do this is because of what we have heard or what we have been told about God. You can’t imagine yourself talking to God, like you are gisting with your best friend, you can’t imagine smiling out of nowhere just because you remember one of His promises. It sounds almost impossible.

Maybe it’s just too good to be true.

I understand. I heard someone talk so fondly about God and I kept wondering how could this be possible?

In the long run, I got tired of playing religion or praying only when I kneel. I knew I wanted something deeper.

One thing I am doing and you should do is erase everything you have known or heard about God and ask Him daily that through  His word and the world that He created he will show you true love and that your relationship with Him will experience new life and joy.

Whether it’s about something you’ve done wrong, your greatest dreams or even the seemingly insignificant thoughts. God wants you to be vulnerable with Him.

No forming!

Today I commit everything in the hands of God and I decree that I enjoy His divine help. In the name of Jesus I decree that I live in prosperity, peace and I shall possess the land. Day by day the Lord takes care of me and my household. I decree that I shall receive an inheritance that lasts forever. I shall not be disgraced in hard times; even in famine I shall have more than enough. The Lord takes pleasure in every area of my life and all that concerns me.

The Lord lifts me out of every pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. The Lord sets my feet on solid ground and stabilizes me as I walk along. The Lord gives me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many shall see what God has done in me and through me and they shall be amazed. Many shall hear my testimonies and follow me to serve my God. The manifestations of God in my life shall make many put their trust in the Lord.

May those who try to destroy me be humiliated and put to shame. May those who take delight in my trouble be turned back in disgrace, may they be horrified by their shame. I decree that I have a deeper thirst for God and the things of God. I have a heart of flesh therefore my heart is receptive to His word. I abide and stay in the word of God forever. I decree a fresh fire on my prayer altar and I come against every spirit of slumber in the spiritual growth. The Lord single-handedly weeds out the godless and every evil planting from my life and household. The Lord plants me by the riverside and gives me a fresh start.I believe, I say Amen and it is settled.

Good Morning Beautified Lady,

We pray that as you speak these words into your life Heaven will back them up

Father in the name of Jesus, I decree and I declare that the double doors are opened unto me. I decree that you shall show me the right path and point out the road for me to follow. Therefore, I am not misguided on where to go because I shall hear a voice saying to me always, this is the way, walk there in. I decree that in every area of my life, the Lord upholds me with his faithfulness and unfailing love. I decree that i live in prosperity and my children shall inherit the land.

In the name of Jesus I decree and declare over me and my household that the Lord shall restore, support, and strengthen us, and he will place us on a firm foundation. I decree that I am prosperous and I shall grow in wealth. My mind is renewed with the word of God, therefore, I meditate on it day and night, I live in total obedience to the word and my prosperity shall appear to all men and I have success with undeniable proofs.

I decree over my life that I am connected to the supernatural therefore I am not bothered by the heat, famine or economic downturn. My leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruits. This season I decree that when men are cast down I will be lifted up, I will rise and shine for my light is come.

The Lord opens to me this season doors that no one can shut and He shuts every door of impediments over my destiny. Now is the appointed time for God to heal all my wounds whether financial, physical, spiritual or otherwise. The Lord shall give me prosperity and true peace. The Lord shall restore every of my lost fortunes and rebuild my life and household for better. The Lord cleanses me from my sins, blots out every written ordinance against me and forgives all my iniquities. I believe, I say Amen and it is settled.

Have a splendid day!
